Although beautiful, high heels are the least functional type of footwear known to us. They alter our gait by lifting our heels and mess with the center of mass which results in pressure being added in places that are not designed to take on the extra weight. This leads to pain and discomfort in our joints.
Additionally, added weight in our forefeet along with a narrow toe box makes it a perfect recipe blisters. This further affects our ability to carry ourselves without pain leading to more long term chronic issues.
How to avoid getting pain in high heels
- Choose comfort over style. This goes a long way.
- If you can, opt for a lower heel height.
- Wider toe box.
- Flexible upper material that wont dig into your feet.
